Mobile Gateway: Discovery Using DNS-SD

How to: Locate the Mobile Gateway in iOS/Android Apps via mDNS/Bonjour Announcements

Issue:

In some environments, the mDNS/Bonjour-based service announcement is not reliable enough, due to the nature of the protocol.

Solution:

An alternative solution is to make use of the existing local DNS server to create a '_discovermobile' SRV record, as shown in the illustrations below.

Create a Host (A) record for the Gateway if it is not already present.
Then, set up a 'Service Location' (SRV) record '_discovermobile' under the '_tcp' existing entry, as illustrated in the screenshot.
