How to Migrate Your Server Smoothly and Efficiently
The ability to move a license from one server to another requires valid maintenance. Make sure you have valid maintenance on your license before you start moving, to avoid service interruption.
Migrating EveryonePrint from one server to another is a simple task that can be completed in a few minutes, and involves the following overall steps:
- Create the print queues on the new server matching the old
- Backup configuration on the old server
- Install EveryonePrint on a new server and update login account on EveryonePrint Web Service
- Restore backup from the old server on the new
- Obtain a new License Key
- Point any EveryonePrint Mobile Gateways from the old to a new server.
I. Creating print queues on the new server
Start by creating the print queues on the new server that EveryonePrint should be able to print to. On Windows either the built-in Print Management tools or the command line print migration tool can be used, which can migrate printers with ports, drivers, etc... from old to new server.

II. Backup the EveryonePrint configuration
- Stop all EveryonePrint services on the old server and make a backup of the following files and folders:
<program files (x86)>\EveryonePrint\eop.xml
<program files (x86)>\EveryonePrint\printers.xml
<program files (x86)>\EveryonePrint\data (entire folder with subdirectories) - If you have changed Web port configuration or configured SSL certificates, backup this folder: <program files (x86)>\EveryonePrint\etc
III. Install EveryonePrint on the new server
- Run the EveryonePrint installer on the new server, and change the Windows service logon account as described in the EveryonePrint install guide 4.3 section "2.4 Installing EveryonePrint".
- Restart services, and open the EveryonePrint admin to verify that EveryonePrint has started up successfully.
- If successful, then stop all EveryonePrint services on the new server.
IV. Restore backup from old server on new
- Carefully copy the backup files onto the new EveryonePrint server, replace the default files, and start-up EveryonePrint services again.
- The new server should be identical to your old server; at this point, verify all EveryonePrint services are started successfully and you can login at the Admin console, and the system works as expected.
V. Obtain new License Key
- The license from the previous server is stored in the configuration that was restored on the new server, and since a license key is specific to a server, the new EveryonePrint server will complain about an invalid license key.
No need to worry; you have 72 hours from starting up the services to obtain a new license key. - Follow instructions from our Server Name Change - Support Guide to proceed with this online request.
VI. Point any EveryonePrint Mobile Gateways from the old to a new server
If you have installed any EveryonePrint Mobile Gateways on separate servers, and if the new server has a different IP address or host name on your network, make sure to update the Mobile Gateway destinations.
